One of my favorite things about living in the DC area is the number of cool events, festivals, and experiences. Of course, given that we are in a pandemic, most of them have been canceled or postponed. However, a few socially distanced events and experiences are coming up that I think you might be interested in. See below.
Hot Air Balloon Launch at Linganore Wine Cellars (Mount Airy, Maryland)
October 31 at Noon
Kick-off your weekend, viewing one of the most fascinating and unique attractions in Maryland – the Hot Air Balloon Launches at Linganore Wine Cellars. There will be multiple balloon launches during the day, hourly balloon instructions, live music, food trucks, Linganore wine, and Red Shedman beer! Make plans for a reserved tasting at the winery or enjoy the day with friends and family on the lawn while viewing the balloons drift over the picturesque Maryland countryside. With plenty of room for social distancing. The evening set up of 4 to 5 balloons will begin around 3:30 with launch around 4 pm. Sip your wine or beer, watch the breathtaking balloons set up and drift off in the wind while enjoying live music and great food. Please be sure to bring your own chairs, tents, and games to make a day of it!

Join Running Hare Vineyard for a special showing of Hocus Pocus. Tickets are $25 per vehicle.
Gates Open at 5:00pm: Movie Begins after sundown around 6:30pm.
Audio for the film will be broadcast over radio waves to your car; tune in to FM Radio 89.9 and enjoy! We will have wine, slushies, beer, and food options on-site. You may bring your own food, but no outside alcohol is permitted. Please view more theater rules here.
Camping Out at the Vineyard: November 6
Join Running Hard Vineyard for a night of fun, complete with live music, a bonfire, s’ mores, and much more! Sip on their wines and beers from Southern Maryland Biergarten around the fire while taking in the sights and sounds of the vineyard at night! Food vendors will be open until 10pm for late-night snacks. Mimosas, bloody mary’s, and breakfast will be available for sale in the morning.
Tickets will be separated into two categories.
General admission – $10 per person.
This includes admission to the event, live music, bonfire, and s’ mores.
Campsite Permit – $15 per campsite
Ages 3 and younger are free.

Vineyard Hikes at Stone Tower Winery (Leesburg, Virginia)

With a glass of wine in hand and a fun fact map to guide your way, their self-guided vineyard tour is the perfect way to enjoy your afternoon! While the route is a beautiful beginner-level hike, there are steep slopes and uneven terrain; appropriate footwear is encouraged. Tours begin at the Tower View and are expected to take 45 minutes to complete. All guests must be 21+ with a max of 6 guests. Spacing is limited; book today!

Rent-A-Row at Bluemont Vineyard (Bluemont, Virginia)
Relax among the vines with Bluemont’s Rent a Row Experience The most casual and socially distant experience! Enjoy the sunshine, rolling vista views of Loudoun Valley, and fresh mountain air in your private reserved vineyard row of vines. Bring your lawn chairs or outdoor blankets to enjoy the outdoor seating. All wine and food service will be executed with disposable cups, utensils, and packaging. Vineyard Service is available for parties of 2-10 guests and requires a nonrefundable deposit of $30 that will be applied to your final bill. This experience is great for groups that include pets or children.
